Who Are We

The Peoples Theatre, Inc. is a non-profit entity dedicated to promoting and supporting cinema and the visual & performing arts in Anderson County and the surrounding area.

The Peoples Theatre will be more than a Movie Theater.  The movie theater is just a small part of it.   This facility will be an arts & entertainment center.  It will include live entertainment, visual & performing arts events and education, and host to ongoing visual and performing arts camps and seminars.  This facility will not only serve Anderson County but the surrounding area and help improve the economic and social development of downtown Garnett, KS.  We hope that it will assist in the revitalization of downtown Garnett and improve traffic thus helping local businesses. The movie theater aspect of this facility is a way to support cinema as an art form and the revenues from it are recognized by the IRS as a self-sustaining fund raising tool for The P.T. Inc. goals and objectives.  The Peoples Theatre will have something for everyone!

What We Plan To Provide

Current Goals:

We are providing a Free Monthly Movie Night for all of our members.  Each month we will view a different new release on the big screen.  This is our way to give back to our supporters and volunteers.  We will provide refreshments and accept freewill offerings.

Immediate Future:

Here are just a few of the projects that we have planned for 2009:

• Mother's Day Dinner & Dance
• CornFest Cornacopia Tent Entertainment
• Members Only Movie Nights (Every Month)

Short-Term Goals:

We plan to build a Movie Theatre in downtown Garnett, KS.  This theater will employee multiple citizens of Anderson County and provide much needed entertainment for our community.  The movie tickets will be affordable for everyone.  Ticket sales along with concessions will provide an on-going fund-raiser for projects such as those mentioned above.

Long-Term Goals:

Our vision for the future includes building a massive entertainment venue in downtown Garnett, KS.  We know this goal is lofty and will take many many years to achieve but we constantly tell our children to DREAM BIG.  Now it is our turn.

Two or three full-time digital motion picture movie theaters and one large main theater.

Larger performance venue for local non-profit performing and visual arts groups.

A place for families and individuals of any age to go for quality entertainment, education and fun.

Live entertainment may include - comedy, a variety of music groups ranging from popular to the 'Fine Arts' as well as small and large-scale plays and musicals in a dinner theatre setting.  (Be sure to check out The Chamber Players - one of the organizations we want to support).

Host to music, visual art, theater, and other 'Fine Arts' summer camps for students of most age groups in the region.

Arts classes, tutoring, workshops, and private lessons for interested patrons desiring to purchase basic to advanced instruction in the visual or performing arts.

This facility will fill a vacant lot located on the northeast corner of downtown Garnett as a centralized location for anderson county and surrounding area.

Leasing will be available to the public for weddings and other special events.
